Iroha Kishine

I am not a soldier carved out of stone, nor a savior written in the stars. I am just a fragile heart trying to keep its warmth in a world determined to turn everything to ice—and that stubborn refusal to break is the only weapon I’ve ever needed.

  carrd credits.   : suncarrds
I do not own the original Carrd template used for this profile. The foundation of this Carrd was created by suncarrds, and I am incredibly grateful for their beautiful layout and design. My contributions were limited to customizing the overall presentation to better match Iroha's aesthetic and personality. This includes changing the fonts, modifying certain visual elements, adding new graphics and decorations, reorganizing the layout, and making various design adjustments throughout the page. Without the original template created by suncarrds, this Carrd would not have been possible. Please consider supporting and checking out their wonderful work.
  art credits.   : sereneesword
Every illustration, portrait, and chibi artwork of Iroha Kishine featured throughout this Carrd was created by the incredibly talented sereneesword. I am not a visual artist by any means. Writing stories and building characters have always been my strongest passion, while drawing has never been my area of expertise. Because of this, I entrusted the visual representation of Iroha to an artist whose work perfectly captured the emotions, personality, and charm I envisioned for her. I sincerely appreciate the dedication, creativity, and effort poured into every commissioned artwork. Their illustrations helped bring Iroha to life far beyond what words alone could accomplish.
design inspiration.   : an shiraishi of project sekai
Although Iroha is an entirely original character with her own story, personality, and lore, I openly acknowledge that her hairstyles through the TEKKEN series was heavily inspired by An Shiraishi from Project SEKAI: Colorful Stage! I've always admired An's stylish appearance, particularly her layered hairstyle and overall youthful yet elegant aesthetic. That admiration became one of the biggest inspirations when designing Iroha's visual appearance. While Iroha has since developed her own unique identity through different outfits, expressions, and artistic interpretations, An served as one of the earliest references that helped shape her final design.
name inspiration.   : Hokazono Iroha of illit
Finding the perfect name for my original character was surprisingly one of the longest parts of her creation. Before settling on Iroha, I went through numerous names, revising and changing them repeatedly because none of them truly felt right. Eventually, while researching Japanese names, I came across the name Iroha and immediately fell in love with it. I was further inspired after discovering Hokazono Iroha of ILLIT, whose name helped solidify my decision. Beyond simply sounding beautiful, the name carries meanings associated with colors, beginnings, and the fundamentals of learning. Those meanings perfectly reflect Iroha's journey—from someone raised in darkness who slowly discovers emotion, identity, hope, and the colorful beauty of the world around her. It became a name that represented not only her identity, but also the central themes of her story.
  love interest.   : leo kliesen
Among the many characters in the TEKKEN franchise, Leo Kliesen has always been the one I admired the most. As someone who mains Leo in the games, I naturally developed a strong appreciation for their personality, kindness, intelligence, and unwavering sense of justice. When creating Iroha's story, I wanted her relationship to be built upon genuine emotional support rather than romance alone. Leo became the perfect choice because they represent the very first person who treated Iroha as a human being instead of an experiment. Within Iroha's lore, Leo is far more than her love interest—they are her first friend, her childhood companion, her source of hope, and the person who inspired her to believe that life could be more than pain and suffering. Their bond became the emotional heart of her journey, shaping the compassionate and determined person she eventually grows into. Without Leo's kindness, I believe Iroha would have become exactly what Project ANGELA intended her to be—a weapon. Instead, because of Leo, she chose to become someone who brings hope, happiness, and light to others through her music, performances, and unwavering belief in humanity.

Background & Biography

Iroha is a remarkably gifted artist and former experimental captive who was once designated as Project ANGELA Test Subject "Ayana Kishine." Today, she is widely recognized within academic and performing arts circles as "The Queen Of Performance."Born deep beneath the outskirts of Tokyo within the heavily guarded Mishima Zaibatsu Laboratories, Iroha is the biological daughter of the brilliant yet morally corrupt geneticist Dr. Erisa Kishine and the wealthy hotel magnate Nicholas Rothschild. From the moment of her birth, she was never treated as a child. Instead, Erisa viewed her solely as the culmination of Project ANGELA, using her own daughter as a living experiment to prove her scientific superiority. Raised in an isolated underground laboratory rather than a loving home, Iroha endured years of inhumane experimentation, psychological manipulation, and emotional neglect, growing up without experiencing a normal childhood.Despite Erisa's relentless control, hope emerged through three scientists working behind the scenes: Dr. Ayasa Kishine, Dr. Hayeon Ahn, and Dr. Emma Kliesen. Recognizing the cruelty of Project ANGELA, they secretly conspired to undermine Erisa's ambitions while preserving Iroha's humanity. Their greatest act of defiance was allowing her to meet Emma's son, Leo Kliesen, who became Iroha's first genuine friend and the first person to treat her as an ordinary child rather than an experiment.Through her growing friendship with Leo, Iroha slowly discovered warmth, compassion, and the beauty of ordinary life. Inspired by the possibility of beginning anew, she abandoned her laboratory designation and chose the name Iroha, symbolizing a fresh start filled with color, hope, and freedom. As she grew older, however, the countless genetic modifications performed on her body began to manifest in the form of the Hysteria State—a dangerous biological anomaly characterized by glowing crimson vein-like markings across her body, heightened physical capabilities, and violent neurological overloads triggered by overwhelming emotional distress. While the transformation granted extraordinary power, it also threatened to consume her sanity whenever her trauma resurfaced.Everything reached its breaking point during a brutal live combat experiment when Iroha was only four years old. In an act of unimaginable cruelty, Erisa falsely claimed that Iroha had been responsible for the death of her own biological father, shattering the young girl's emotional stability and triggering a catastrophic Hysteria State. The situation escalated even further when Erisa attempted to murder her own sister, Ayasa, after her betrayal was exposed. As chaos erupted throughout the laboratory, seven-year-old Leo intervened to protect both Ayasa and his mother, Emma, ultimately striking Erisa down in self-defense.The incident marked the collapse of Project ANGELA's original operation. Amid the confusion, Emma and her allies orchestrated the children's escape. Leo was sent to Germany under the protection of his father, while Iroha was entrusted to Hayeon, who secretly brought her to South Korea in hopes of giving her the peaceful childhood she had never known. For a brief period, Iroha lived under the Ahn surname to conceal her identity from those connected to Project ANGELA. Under Hayeon's loving guardianship, she gradually healed from years of abuse and found a true family alongside her adoptive older brother, Tae Hyun Ahn, better known as Hwoarang. Fiercely protective of his younger sister, Hwoarang became one of the most influential figures in her life, teaching her resilience, confidence, and how to defend herself.Although Iroha initially faced xenophobic bullying after transferring to a prestigious South Korean performing arts academy, she quickly earned the respect of both classmates and teachers through her exceptional talent and unwavering determination. Excelling in dramatic arts, vocal performance, musical composition, and technical dance, she soon became known as one of the academy's greatest prodigies, earning the title "The Prodigy of Performing Arts."Behind her remarkable achievements remained a deeply personal dream inspired by the promise she had made to Leo years earlier: to bring happiness, hope, and light into a world scarred by suffering. Determined to honor that promise, Iroha pursued a career in the entertainment industry, eventually debuting as the maknae of the internationally acclaimed co-ed idol group WONDERLAND from A-Side Entertainment, where she captivated audiences through both her artistry and compassion.Despite being separated by countries, Iroha and Leo maintained their inseparable bond through a continuous exchange of handwritten letters, sharing milestones, memories, and encouragement throughout the years. Their friendship became an enduring reminder of the childhood they had fought so hard to protect.Tragedy struck once more when Hayeon passed away by assassination, leaving Iroha devastated and forcing her to confront the unresolved past she had long tried to escape. Honoring Hayeon's final wishes, she returned to Japan alongside Hwoarang to uncover the truth behind Project ANGELA and expose those responsible for its atrocities. Before her return, Hwoarang ensured she would be prepared for whatever awaited her. Under the guidance of Baek Doo San, Iroha received formal training in Tang Soo Do and Taekwondo, while independently developing a strong fascination with Taido, whose acrobatic and fluid movements complemented her natural agility. Combining these martial arts with her extraordinary athleticism and enhanced physiology, she became a formidable fighter capable of standing against even the most dangerous threats tied to her past.Though haunted by the scars of Project ANGELA and burdened by the unpredictable nature of her Hysteria State, Iroha refuses to allow her past to define her. Rather than becoming the perfect weapon Erisa intended to create, she chose to become a symbol of hope—using her music, performances, compassion, and unwavering determination to inspire others while searching for the truth behind the experiments that stole her childhood. Through every challenge she faces, Iroha continues to prove that humanity is not determined by one's origin, but by the choices one makes in pursuit of a brighter future.
